Normally we’d spend a sunny Saturday on the trail, chased by a pint or two at the nearest brewpub. But February 25, 2017 is no normal Saturday in Bellingham. It’s a day to celebrate with two of our favorite industries: local beer and the great outdoors.
So rather than going hiking, we’re going on an urban adventure around town. First stop? The breweries!

From Noon to 5 pm, breweries throughout the state are throwing their doors open for the annual Washington Beer Open House. In Bellingham, seven breweries are participating this year. That’s seven opportunities to tour, taste brews, and meet the wonderful people behind our local breweries. Need we say more?
Here’s the schedule:
  • Aslan: Tours every half hour
  • Boundary Bay: Tours on the hour
  • Chuckanut: Tours at Noon and 1:30pm
  • Kulshan and K2: 12:00, 2:00 and 4:00pm
  • Stones Throw: Tours on the hour
  • Wander: Tours available

Once we’ve had our fill of samples, we’re heading to Fairhaven for the annual Recreation Northwest EXPO. After attending last year, we can say with certainty that this event is not to be missed. Featuring 65 outdoor industry exhibitors, Smokey Bear, and beer, it’s pretty much all of our favorite things wrapped up into a single event. This event is from 1 PM to 6 PM, so plan your beer route accordingly.

Pro tip: Stop by from 2-3pm to meet Smokey Bear!

See you out there. Cheers!
